Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
(Back to home)
I get asked a wide range of questions from time to time, and I'll try to address some of them here. I'll also answer some questions that I'm making up because I'm weird that way. You can decide for yourself which questions are which.
Questions About Guitar Playing
"Why In The World Would I Want To Play Guitar?"
Well, for a lot of people the answer is simple - they already own a guitar and it's an awful waste to just leave it lying around. But really you could play for a lot of reasons: for fun, for therapy, for relaxation, and occasionally even for money. Of course, as in most things that are important in life, money should usually be your last motivator.
"How Hard Is It To Play Guitar?"
Playing guitar is actually really easy, which is why it's one of the most popular instruments on the planet. I really can't speak for other planets, so I'll just leave it at that. <grin>
"How Often Should I Practice?"
You should attempt to practice every day. This is not always feasible, and I tend to skip a day or two every other week myself. But with most things that require some sort of skill, guitar is a discipline that you have put some time into.
"How Long Should I Practice?"
At a bare minimum, I'd say ten minutes of scales. Some days I practice for hours, and other days I want to throw the guitar out the window after about five minutes. (By the way, that's a sure sign that it's time to quit for the day.) Remember, playing the guitar is supposed to be fun. <grin>
Questions About This Site
"Does The Planet Really Need Another Christian Guitar or Bass web Site?"
In the grand scheme of things, probably not. It's just a hobby, and I have fun doing it. While I try to promote Christian music with this site, I do not claim that this is a ministry. I'm not trying to be the biggest and best site on the planet, either. I do take the web site seriously, and you can see the links page for some other sites if you can't find what you're looking for here. I also take suggestions, and I try to incorporate them as best I can.
"Why In The World Should I Look At This Site?"
That question is a whole lot more difficult to answer, so I'll just leave that up to you. If you have the time, or you're bored and have nothing better to do, you might as well take a gander at it.
"Why Don't You Have Any Tabs Listed For <some band/artist>?"
Let's face it, there's a lot of good Christian music out there these days. (I remember the days when there wasn't any non-hymn music.) Anyway, the tabs listed on this are for songs that people have already transcribed. If it's not listed, well, no one has taken the time to work it out. (You are welcome to, however... <grin>).
"Why Do You Have Any Tabs Listed For <some band/artist>?"
This question seems to come up now and again, and it's grounds for lots of debate. The songs listed on this site are of interest to Christians, and I try to stick to just Christian music. Occasionally some Christian-influenced music gets listed. (This is sometimes due to unfamiliarity on my part.) When someone points out the error of my ways, I usually remove it.
"Why Do Most Of Your Tab Links Point To Other Web Sites?"
There's a lot of great guitar tab out there on the Internet, and I try to catalog that and display a list of links where you can find songs. In that sense, this site acts much like a search engine. I do not believe in leeching another web site's content, so I do not copy other web sites' content to this site.
"Why are you such a <insert an insult here>?
Okay, occasionally I get flamed. Sometimes I make mistakes, and I admit that. Other times, it's just a web site, folks. Maybe we all need to lighten up a bit. <grin>
